Steam Boating 101

Some of you may have never had steam boat before and I realise that we are fast approaching summer (although the weather may not seem like it at present -- and steam boat (hot pot) is not the best in summer.. because for obvious reason - it's hot!) but I feel as though everyone should prepare themselves so next winter you can all visit places like Dragon Seafood Restaurant on James st. Northbridge or Korean Cafe Restaurant on Francis st. Northbridge or Nanikijup in Victoria Park for their Steam Boats.

SOOOOO let me welcome you to.....

STEAM BOATING 101
1. Here is the stove. The waiter is asking us what soup kind of soup we would like to cook our food in. (There's about a choice of like 5/6 but my favourite is satay or the chicken original!.. you can split the soup in two.. most of the time depending on the restaurant that you go to!)

2. In the middle/corner of the restaurant there is an  all you can eat/cook/take table which has LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of seafood, dumplings, fish balls, wontons, vegies etc. Just make sure you cook and eat everything that you take! (they charge extra for any uneaten things!) - IF this place is ALL YOU CAN EAT if it is a set hot pot - then they will bring what you ordered to your table.

3. COOK YOUR FOOD BY PUTTING IT IN THE BOILING SOUP! =D

4. How do you know that it's Cooked? Look for colour changes. Dumplings and wontons when done floats to the top. And if you not sure take it to your bowl. inspect. if not done throw it back in!

5. EAT! =D

NOTES:

a. PLEASE grab the metal spoon scooping thingo thats to help you grab your cooked meal! and DO NOT steal other peoples spoon scooping thing! it's rather annoying! >_<":
b. try to separate your cooking chopsticks with your eating chopsticks, unless of course you want to eat the raw juices with your cooked juices.. i know i don't!! and stack of your used dishes so the waiters and collect it up and makes your table all neat and tidy!

This ends the Steam Boating 101 class

Now go and eat and have fun doing it! ^_^

ode to good company, coffees and cafes

If it wasn't for my cafe catch ups and gossips -  life would be so dull. Of course things are always better if the cup is heavenly..

alas..

'Close, engaging company can make even the most mediocre coffee taste like heaven in a cup.'

Nine Fine Food is a definite 10!!

sorry no photo for this post - because I left my camera >.<"" and the phone photos turned out horrible - their lighting just wasn't right for phone cameras!!

Nine Fine Foods, located in Perth, on Bulwer street and lake street corner - near the mount lawley end. It is a small, discrete little japanese restaurant with a twist.

Unlike, most of the other Japanese restaurant, this place offers something much more special - firstly, don't expect it be like the fast food world of taka, it's more adventurous and definitely more FINE dining then Matsuri and offers FRESH YUMMY sashimi and is nicely priced compared to that one in Mosman Park. Furthermore, it's won so many awards!

I love the simple decorations with touches of japanese - very JAPAN. ^_^ The atmosphere is cosy, because hey this restaurant only sits 20-ish so a booking is a must and trust me it's hard to get booking - we were squeezed in!! and I'm glad they made room for us!

We had the Sashimi tasting plate to share as an entree and it was to die for. The seafood was FRESH, JUICY and oozing with goodness, especially the tuna and the oyster shot... mmm.. and believe me when I say that it is no ordinary sashimi - it has little pieces of modern-and-yet-totally-traditional japan all over it!

The mains are not overshadowed by the sashimi - they were just as brilliant. *SIGH* it's a pity I don't have photos, because describing food is not the same without the photos.

So I'll leave it at that, because I will be going back there and I WILL be bringing a camera.

My study cafe places...#1 Mill Point Caffe Bookshop~~~

Tucked away on Mill Point Road, South Perth, opposite Ciao Italia (whom have had an their much needed renovations!!) sits this gorgeous little bookcaffe.

At the front of the cafe is where interesting, rare books are sold and where if you wish - you can sit on their lounge with a coffee and read or sit on one of their wooden tables - where you can opt to eat one of their many dishes on offer OR you can just sneak around to the back of the cafe where you will find the cutest courtyard, with a willow tree, providing shade and a whole lot of seats to choose from to eat and enjoy your morning/lunch out!

I was the one Under the Willow tree!

The menu offered at Mille Point Caffe Bookshop is fresh, reviltalising and most importantly the stuff of brain food - perfect for all day studying at the place! I especially love their juices - they so yummy and have all these interesting mixes - the perfect stuff for spring & summer. Their coffee is average but HEY who cares.. they have awesome juice mixes!

So the "x" number of days that i spent at this place - the people that work there are friendly, cheery and were damn generous with their servings - all of the time! From the first visit to the last.

Our Breakfast one of the many days and their yummy juices!

The BIG breakfast - with two slices of toast, baked beans, bacon, mushrooms, egg and sausages!

Chicken and Avacado Sandwich

The BIG vegetarian Breakfast! - Spinach, Rockett, Grilled Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Baked Beans, 2 slices of toast and egg

The Royal - Egg Benedict + salmon, spinach sprouts on toasted bread with that awesome sauce! - it may not look all that big but its sooo filling!

Egg Florentine (or was it Benedict?) with bacon sprouts and that awesome sauce

Oh they awesome make really really nice uber big salads and nachoes, as well as milkshakes, coffees, juices and kid-sized things. It's very relaxed, nice, casual place. I love just going there for breakfast with a book or just to enjoy a morning out. (although, the times i've been is for me to study T_T but hey it's damn good venue for studying, beats the stale air of a library!)

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I COME HERE AGAIN AND AGAIN just for the ambience, friendly staff and hearty yummy food!

Cantina 663 - August Visit

I won't describe the comfort that Cantina brings - especially after a HARD 50 hour week of work followed a catch up with your best girlfriends before a cocktail venture is something I count down to.

I'm pleased to present you the August Menu that was at Cantina.

Image - two professionals after a LONG hard week dealing with the idiots in our society - just to sit on the comfortable leather counches to have hearty italian food with a bottle of wine - one word - divine!

Leg of Duck - slowly cooked - it was delicious! with lentils and vegies!

Braised beef, vegies, cheese on top of Panletta (i think.. can't remember!)

With that I'll just say - I love the homely hearty italian food. It keeps me warm in winter!

he has my heart - he just doesn't know it yet

I can't believe I like him so.

I know he's so bad for me, and yet i'm so attracted - when did i start liking guys that are toxic for me? Why do I push away the ones that adore me?

Hey what a beautiful mess this is. It's like picking up trash in dresses.

Damn him and his gorgeous smile.
His "No.. THANK YOU" to all your thank yous.
His cheekiness.
His play-fights.
His teasing.
His randomness.
His caring, fun, laidback, easygoing nature.
His knowledge and smarts.

DAMN HIM for making me fall!

ps. yes i realise i'm studying for exams. when i'm not thoughts of him creep up! *SIGH*
alas i will not see him for ages, so that's a good thing - because then i can forget about him.
