Playing building

I don't know how many of you try building sandcastles in the sand... But I'm pretty sure architecturally it's not as amazing as this...

Now this is a sandcastle..

Food inspired catwalks.. or Catwalk inspired foods?

I love pretty clothes, accessories, shoes, bags etc. like any other girl. In fact, too much love for them. I spend way too much. Most of my pay packet goes towards good food (eating out).. and shopping. My love for shopping is rather outrageous. I didn't realise it has gotten so bad until I tried cleaning out my wardrobe. I found several new outfits to wear and luckily my pleather skirt I bought 3-4 years back and have only ever worn it twice is now highly fashionable (back when I bought it, it was NOT fashionable, I bought it because it was different). Now I found that it just gives it that rock edge to my outfits. I've worn it out so many times over the last 2 weeks of catching up with friends (over food of course!).

Anyway, what I really want to get to is... apart from dressing up to go out for breakfast, lunch (or hell brunch), dinner, dessert, bar, shopping etc. and making sure the outfit fits each occasion, location and of course room for food. My choice of fashionable wears really depends on where I'm going and how much I'll be eating (you need to really wear your fat fashionable clothing if you are going for degustation for example).

Strangely enough, recently I found some fashion that oddly resembles food. It either looks like food, or reminds me of food, or hey, maybe, the designers were inspired by the delicious, gorgeously presented lunch/dinner that they had while they chatted about beautiful things.

Just look at the photos and you will see what I mean...

Or...

I could just be crazy... and possibly hungry..

What do you think?

Unveiled - 200 years of wedding glamour @ Western Australia Museum

I went with a couple of workmates to a very glamourous exhibition at the WA Museum - 200 years of wedding fashion.

It was amazing to see dresses from 1828 right through to Dita Von Teese Vivienne Westwood wedding dress to the divine Christian Lacroix dress. To learn the evolution of the white dress and the start of a multi-billion dollar industry.

It's definitely worth a peak. Unfortunately no photos are allowed so this outfit - a wedding alternative by Aurelio Costello outside in the foyer will have to do.

\
Head down to the WA Museum and make it a day by having tea (or lunch or breakfast) at the Muse cafe (on the grousa of the museum) under the trees or in their tea rooms.

The exhibition is on until 24 of March so check it out! Oh and there is a small fee involve but it's cheaper then movie ticket! You could even book online at museum.wa.gov.au

Wardrobe and Pantry

I've been thinking of ways to combine my love for food and fashion so decided to gather some ideas and inspiration from the net such as those from TasteofRunway.

I'm not sure if this would be a segment considering how difficult it is for me to already keep myself updated on my reviews of places I've eaten.. (I'm sure I'm still several weeks behind!).

On the upside bf and I made a promise to ourselves and to each other not to indulge in such gluttony in 2013 and save our waistline and our backpockets. I'm so close to my goal weight too. Even with the massive indulgent 5 week holiday I managed to do some exercise on the Great Wall, on the River Cruise, in the hotel in Beijing, hiked to the Kwaik Htee Yeo pagoda and managed to contract a nasty gastro causing me to lose 2kg (which I plan to keep off once this silly season is over!). So that promise of saving our waistlines and $$$ would mean that the blog would evolve into something more than what it is now (and I've been itching to change it to just a review site.. as I'm finding it so tiresome to just write reviews of things I've eaten.. It's strifling my limited creativeness).

So anyway here's a entirely nonsensical post combining my love for food, outings and fashion. After all who wouldn't want to be dress to suit the occasion! Outfits good enough to eat? food good enough to transpire to wear?

Casual linen pants with a beautiful oversized boyfriend blazer for a catchup over cake and icecream with the girlfriends. Who can say no to that? Simple and yet desirable.

A child's drink of chocolate milkshake can be made so much more interesting with a touch of quality Bourbon. Just like the way a pair of boots can give that "oomph' to a "work outfit".

Bourges styled shoes gives a lovely floaty dress a bit of street cred, modern and yet so old-school. Just like the good old pink lemonade. Who wouldn't want this (or wear this) on a hot summer's day?

Blueberry and Lavender Rhubarb Jam - rich in flavours requires you to wear something rich in colour. Don't you think those colours are the must in any winter wardrobe?

Sometimes the good ole egg bacon and avocardo sandwich is all you need for breakfast, lunch or hey why not brunch. Topped with my favourite - polkadots in red and white. It seems like the perfect match for any day.

A good chauterie board with a beautiful bottle of wine seems like the ideal way to catch up with the girls. Just accompany it with some soothing Buble or similar and I'll say it's pretty picture perfect.

I love pastel colours on clothing and moshi balls have the perfect array of pastel colourness. Pity there isn't a moshi ball shop in Perth and the pre-packed balls from the Asian stores just don't get it.

I always find ice creams to taste so much better in winter than in summer and sorbets are so refreshing in summer. Try a blood orange sorbet or an intense strawberry/raspberry sorbet this summer and of course you can never have too much coats and you should always have at least one red coat and anything fux fur trim always gives it that touch of elegance. Pity it never gets that cold in Perth.

Hmm.. That was rather inspiring.

It makes me realise I really need to spring clean my wardrobe. I have so many clothes it's getting a little ridiculous and seeing as it's the season of giving I think it's time to donate to St. Vinnies and I haven't even worn half of what I have in my wardrobe.

Karringyup Swapmeet

I've been dedicated for the last two Sundays and waking up before the sun to sell my fashion treasures I don't wear at the Karringyup Swapmeet.

It's been a lot of fun and I'm getting addicted to it too quickly. It's quick pocket money. I just really wish people won't bargain so much especially as my stuff and my friends are actually pretty brand new and not junk unlike so other stalls that are set up. $15.00 for a well looked after and pretty brand new guess bag is already really good but asking for $10.. You are stealing!

Sigh. alas we have come back with cash and unlike last week, today people didn't bargain as much and we stood our ground a lot more.

Anyway, for those that wants to know it runs every Sunday. Get there by 5am and line up for a ticket for entrance. Ticket are numbered and that's how you would go in. Number 1 then 2.. Etc. Public can't enter until 630am. It runs until 11am.

I will be going back just before winter I think.

It's too much fun and makes my weekends seem longer.

Here a photo of our stall... And my friends MC and BB

Separated at Birth: Twiggy (in her young age) and Carey Mulligan

So I had to make another Separated at Birth post purely and simply because you have to agree with me here when I say...

The 1960s style icon Twiggy looks a lot like Carey Mulligan! (of course when I say Twiggy I mean her younger self). Maybe they are related in some way?? It's too uncanny...

Don't you think they look eerily similar?

I love them both!

Change for the better..

The last two weeks of 40+ degree celsius has finally made me book that all important appointment and give up my long hair and go for the big chop.
I've been going to Stephanie Chew's cute little salon in Northbridge - S2C hair designs located in Monger street.

My brother has been going to her for ages and been trying to get me to go for a while, but I really couldn't be bothered until last year before I went on my holidays, she fixed by otherwise bleh hair.

Anyway, whenever I get a haircut the priority that all hairdressers must abide by before they touch my hair is the following:
1. Cut a style that suits me
2. Plain and simply must be VERY low maintenance
(I don't have time as it is!)
3. Has to be somewhat trendy... and if I'm for it I'll just go for something completely outrageous..
4. Provide my hair with volume.. it just goes flat too quick and easily.. thanks to my dead straight hair.. T_T

I left it to Steph.. and she did a brilliant job (it's nice and cool as well..no heavy hot head of hair!)
It was however, such a shock.
The amount of hair on the floor... it looked like a pile of animal fur or a furry decent sized animal! Or a small puppy sized animal at least.. T_T
And feeling it omg.. I can no longer comb my fingers through my hair!

It's a little choppy to give it volume..
Has a side fringe to shape the fringe..
I think I look a little too Asian.. but meh I am so not surprising there..
I also had my hair coloured... Burgundy..
Thank God it's all one colour.

Getting my hair coloured.. and the assistant finishing off the colouring as Steph cuts another customer's hair..

Then.. the final look...

I feel so cheeky with the haircut.. Like I can get up to anything.. HAH..
Now the fun part... matching my hair to all the clothes I have!
OH and I feel as though I look like one of those Japanese/Taiwanese drama girls..
Especially the girl from Hana Kimi..

LOOKIE..

Of course she is a lot cuter! All I'm saying is that the hair is exactly the same!

PS. I was not asked by S2C design OR Stephanie to promote her business.. I'm writing it because I rather like my haircut and I haven't had one in ages.. It feels good to feel the breeze on the back of my neck instead of hair that goes sweaty.. ewww

how to get over HUMP DAY..

Wednesday, it's Hump day. Half way through the week, yet not close enough to see the weekend yet. So how do you survive the hump day blues? Easy... grab friends... and have fun!!

This is how we survived our middle of the week! (which is actually our day off... and sort of my weekend..)

Start the day with brunch anywhere really... we chose West End Deli, because last time we were here it was rather nice... Unfortunately, this time around it was VERY disappointing.. although it was filling, the food very very average, in fact my poached egg seemed to have gone cold by the time it came to me. My mocha was too milky, couldn't taste the chocolate. S's steak and mushroom pie was nice and hot, but it seemed a little dry, which she said it was, it needed more gravy/sauce. To top it off, the bill was ridiculous, over-rated. Might be a while before I come back, if I come back, I'm sure there are nicer places.

After brunch, got some bubbletea, before heading to BHS to see some old work friends, sat with them at their lunch half hour, before heading to Whaleback golf course - because they had a driving range, and I've never played/held a golf club before. It was surprisingly fun and I'm sure was rather entertaining to watch me attempt to swing - which I can't, because I can't seem to be able to bring the club above my hips, due to years of playing hockey! All I can say is it was so much fun!

Because the day was still young, well, 4pm, and the sun was shining in the middle of autumn, we decided to make the most of our off day and go to places we haven't been to in ages, and that happened to be King's Park (and they changed the entrance!! more pedestrian friendly!) - more specifically to the Synergy Park and attempted to run from the Synergy Park to the DNA tower in my oxfords (BAD IDEA!), but we didn't make it very far, we weren't wearing appropriate footwear!

We watched the sunset on the DNA tower before heading into the city for drinks, dinner and karaoke madness... where C took his top off... there was lots of love... PARTY in the USA.. and rocking out to guns and roses and bon jovi...

OUR wednesday finished at 11:45pm.. and I would have to say we successfully managed to survive the uphill battle to the middle of the week and ended it on a note which privy to a good ride towards the weekend!

ps. this was last week, yesterday my hump day wasn't as exciting. I blame that solely on having to recover from a busy weekend and from work.
