princes, knights and Jane Austen

Her books sprawed all over her bedroom floor as she absent-mindedly underline the important points.. "First line treatment.. of.. what was it again?", while Taylor Swift's You Belong To Me plays in the background. Her mind wanders back, back to the time they first had lunch.

It was the first, warm, sunny day that hinted that spring was here. She sat on the park bench with a book by one of her all time favourite authors; Jane Austen "Persuasion". His shadow cast over her and his cheeky smile spilled the words "Sleeping again with an open book?". She looked up at the figure that blocked her sun, she was surprised to run into him, this was a rare occurrence. "It's beautiful out here, who wouldn't want to nap?..Want to join me?" she replied lazily.

He looked across the green grass towards the old european style buildings and hesitated, "I'm going to eat lunch in the office.." he turned back to stare at her only to see her eyebrows raised and her head shake.. "Fine, I'll join you, you managed to convince me!" He sat down next to her. She smiled at him and closed her book. The next one hour went by in a blur of laughter, chit-chats and smiles. Conversation flowing naturally; smoothly, without a hint of hidden words behind veils, no hesitations.

He completed her. She completed him.

That was then. She returned to her book - and caught the end of the song.. "You belong to me..."

Now, he was gone. And she wonders if he actually did belong to her or whether she just desperately wanted him to be her "knight in shining armour". Alas, it didn't matter, she had her happier time and her happiest times are still to come.
